Dream place for everybody.. Sapno ki duniya.. Place where you feel the breeze of stardom kissed you as soon as you step on its soil.. Yup, you guessed it right.. Yup, its our Bollywood city, fashion city, dream city; Mumbai. To be different; To be The Best; To be in pace with kids wear fashion, I was here for business trip. After having completed two days of market survey; checking out with kids store and purchasing the finest fabric for further production in my factory, I was heading towards Mumbai-Dadar station to catch train for my onward journey to Chennai.
I was not amazed with the skyscrapers all over and construction of many more in progress but with the architecture, design and was wondering who will be living in the topmost floor which would be not less than 50th floor; how would be view of Mumbai from that top. And then something else; caught my eye which was more interesting and I found it very nostalgic too: The Window. The Window of Home. Not of Skyscrapers but more of home, society and building colony.
Every house is A HOME; and every home has its own window to world and every window was depicting a new story of its own to me. Some nostalgic, Some naughty, Some caring, Some affectionate, Some drama and so. Story they depict is untold and unseen but when they got my eyes attention; I found it as if they are depicting my own story in parts in different windows of different home or say windows of life.
A Window depicting grandma cuddling with younger baby while 4-5 years elder one was listening to grandma's stories very interestingly; another window where mom is undressing her son's uniform, getting him ready as her son just returned from school; next window showed the elder daughter and her younger brother standing behind mom in kitchen to get their evening snacks with milk and having fun around.
Window where mom is preparing dinner whereas next window shows dad is relaxing in front of TV having return from office. One window depicting daughter still in her school uniform helping mom in kitchen work and her brother having fun with TV; some showed children are busy in writing homework while some other window, kids seems to be busy in preparation for school test or exam.
Window shows life being very religious as home was wholly decorated with lighting and flowers for Ganesh Chaturthi, all family members and even neighbours were present for auspicious Ganeshji pooja which was going on full-fledged while at some window showing mom was doing her routine evening pooja.
But some window were depicting very sadistic part of life; a boy was crying a lot being beaten by his father and his shouting was still on at little boy near balcony window while at another window; a girl was sitting near window looking outside to world seems to be very depressed and very lonely. At some other window, the verbal fight was going on between wife working in kitchen while husband bouncing back words from hall.
At two nearby different home window; boy and girl having good time blossoming their friendship to next level though being at different home by taking advantage of being neighbour next door; boy from his balcony window having nice time with girl next home balcony window. Window also shown group boys planning for cricket match with bats and balls in their hands whereas at some window girls gang were being very excited for some reason and were jumping and dancing.
All these different windows were depicting a very minute and small yet very significant picture of our own life. I was thrown in the its own world where I was seeing my own childhood, my school days, my parents scolding, my dinner time, home work time, exam, flirting or talking with girls, excitement for cricket match or any other game in our society, diwali pooja, grandma stories and so on... Somewhere in this windows, i was seeing my own growth from childhood to adulthood. From baby being cuddled by grandma to the boy returning from school to the guy having nice time talking with gal to the healthy fight between married couple and so on..... I was lost in this world of windows... because every window has its own story untold yet heard, unseen yet been a part of scene, unfeeling yet feeling those moment from heart.

ReplyDeleteVery well written my friend! It reminds me of how everyone shares the same time-space continuum but in a window of their own! You have captured it so beatifically in your own words, almost like an artist!
ReplyDelete...every home has its own window to world...
ReplyDeleteAwesome!! Loved the interpretation of life in the cities.. Have you tried sketching? You'll make a good artist there as well.
Very well written. Observation is a biggest tool of writer. Only if you observe things and keep them.in memories you can write.
