YOU ARE AN MBA

On every passing day, the statement “You are an MBA” is becoming stigma in our work-life and matter of pride in our society. What an irony! Stigma at work and Pride in society.

Scene 1: You have worked hard and given your best effort but your unsatisfied boss always wants something extra from you. You will wonder what is that so called extra, your boss expects from you because “You are an MBA”. This statement kills all the joy of achievement, excitement and hope same as you had given all that extra effort to make the evening more special and your girlfriend says “What is all this? Something else was expected from you. You should know what I want?”

Scene 2: If your boss has final down to point, you cannot convince him for reconsidering the options available even though you are hell bent for reconsideration. Only after facing the consequences of it, you are been tagged as “You are an MBA”; you should have convinced the management. It is like you have committed some crime by completing an MBA. If your girlfriend has decided for Chocó-coffee crunch with strawberry favour ice-cream and is not available then you cannot convince her to have something else but to get it for her from the heaven or hell.

Scene 3: You are a part of meeting. Everyone in the room is discussing on strategy. After hard brain storming session, your boss asks for your opinion and suggestion; and then your ideas is not given much importance or say your ideas seems not interesting to them. You get a punch of “You are an MBA”; you should give ideas out of the box. You will feel like MBA has made you a fool, who is standing amidst so-called themselves, wise people.

The word “MBA” itself creates lot of expectation in office as well as in society for example; You should know everything from rocket science to agriculture science, you can think very fast and differently, you can give ideas out of the box in a miniscule second, you can perform better and bigger than others, etc.

Prefix of “MBA” with your name takes you to higher grade and increases your brand equity in society class. “MBA” word becomes USP (Unique Selling Proposition) for a guy/gal in society.

Different people will have diversfying perspective for the same "You are an MBA". It is upto us how we take it in our life as stigma or as matter of pride. Every coin has two sides or say if sun rises in east, it sets in opposite direction; west.

  1. At times I feel the MBA tag..can make people feel a class above and they actually think twice before they do some work dumped on them.. Just rewind n think you may get instances where you were asked to do some work n you were thinking.." Is this the job of an MBA?? "

  2. :) Entertaining...MBAs are definitely talented but are over-rated in society and expected to perform miracles at the work place. It can get quite frustrating, I understand!!
